    Connect

What if you could increase parish engagement exponentially? That’s exactly what VersAlta did for the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica.

How the Little Flower Blossomed in the Pandemic

National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan, knew that they had to find ways to minister to the critical needs of their parishioners – and do it quickly – during a pandemic. But how? They had too many different tools hosting disconnected data which meant that finding and addressing the needs of their parishioners in a time of crisis would be a challenge.

VersAlta stepped in to transform their operations by implementing the Shepherd360 platform, making the Shrine of the Little Flower the first parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit to adopt this innovative system. We cleaned and consolidated their data, aligning systems to create a unified, user-friendly platform accessible to clergy, administration, and parishioners alike.

    Key Results:

    • Daily engagement parishioner requests increased by 166 over 4 months enabling rapid response to parishioner needs.
    • Weekly email distribution reach increased to over 6,600 email addresses, ensuring consistent communication.
    • Parishioners were able to connect by preference of Email or SMS, enhancing accessibility.
    • Parishioners were able to RSVP for Mass, addressing Covid-19 concerns and easing concerns upon returning to church.
    • Reduced the burden on clergy and staff so they could more effectively connect with and minister to the physical and spiritual needs of those suffering during the pandemic.

"The good God does not need years to accomplish His work of love in a soul; one ray from His Heart can, in an instant, make His flower bloom for eternity…"

"We had four different parishioner databases of the same people and no idea which was accurate. The VersAlta team was able to help us analyze and associate the data across systems so we could better communicate and serve the parishioners. This set us up for success to identify our trained missionary disciples, and engage them to build discipleship communities. Their team was accessible, responsive and very easy to work with."

    Outreach

What if you could mobilize your volunteers to feed your flock at the click of a mouse? That’s exactly what VersAlta did for St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

How St. Aloysius Continues to Feed the Hungry and Care for the Elderly

The mission of outreach lies at the heart of the Church’s call to serve, and our partnership with St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan, demonstrates how technology can amplify corporal works of mercy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Aloysius faced unprecedented challenges in meeting the needs of the hungry and elderly in a shuttered city. With increased demand for food and medication delivery, and a lack of centralized data and tracking, the parish struggled to mobilize volunteers efficiently, placing a heavy burden on staff and volunteers.

VersAlta responded swiftly by implementing the Shepherd360 platform, enabling St. Aloysius to connect those in need with volunteers eager to serve. The platform streamlined operations and provided critical tools to manage outreach efforts effectively.

    Key Results:

    • Volunteers were trained to use the website for availability and scheduling, simplifying coordination.
    • Volunteers could be assigned on the platform, ensuring efficient task allocation.
    • St. Aloysius was able to track and measure their food distribution, providing clear visibility into their impact.
    • Over 2,024 touches were recorded between staff and parishioners within a 4-month period, fostering stronger community ties.
    • Data tracking led to 802 instances of increased governmental support from FEMA within four months, bolstering resources for the community.

"You’ve made my staff very happy and their jobs much easier. We are especially grateful for the solution you provided to help effectively and efficiently minister to the people that we serve. I consider you all behind the scenes ‘front line’ workers, and I hope you take some consolation in knowing that you’ve helped to keep hundreds of people fed and attended to... I wanted you to know that it is all noticed and appreciated. Your team will be in my intentions as I celebrate Mass this Easter season."

    Disciple

What if you could meaningfully increase the discipleship of your flock by forming groups within your parish? That’s exactly what VersAlta enabled for St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.

How St. Frances Cabrini Nurtures Discipleship in Her Community

Discipleship is the cornerstone of nurturing a living relationship with Jesus Christ, and our partnership with St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Allen Park, Michigan, showcases how technology can empower faith formation. Like many parishes, St. Frances Cabrini struggled with managing multiple disconnected systems, making it challenging to organize membership data, conduct outreach, and form discipleship groups. This inefficiency hindered their ability to focus on fostering spiritual growth within their community.

VersAlta implemented key features of the Shepherd360 platform to streamline operations and enable the parish to reach parishioners effectively. By providing tools to manage membership and facilitate community engagement, we empowered St. Frances Cabrini to prioritize discipleship.

    Key Results:

    • Parishioners can review and update their own records securely, fostering greater involvement and ownership.
    • Ministry teams were formed and are now self-running, promoting sustainable leadership within the parish.
    • Discipleship groups were formed with access to volunteers wanting to join.
    • Sub-communities such as Bible Studies, Faith Formation and Outreach, were formed within the parish, enriching spiritual life within the parish.
    • Parish staff can spend more time on their pastoral mission of discipleship.

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

"I am really excited about the positive changes I see in our parish culture as a result of the software and process changes VersAlta implemented for us. I was initially concerned about using a new system, but VersAlta made it very manageable and we are now using the tools for all of our ministry. We’ve also been able to easily train our non-tech ministry leaders on using the tools to facilitate their groups which has made a huge difference in the life of our parish."
