Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati

What does a 20th-century Italian mountaineer have in common with a 21st-century Catholic technology solutions company? Everything. In a world where faith and modern life are often seen as separate domains, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati stands as a powerful testament to their seamless integration. He is the model for our mission: to serve the Church with excellence, joy, and a forward-looking spirit.

Our Guiding Light and Spiritual Patron

Born in 1901 in Turin, Italy, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati lived a life marked by deep faith, joyful charity, and dedicated service to the poor. Though he came from a wealthy and influential family—his father was the founder of Italy's La Stampa newspaper—Pier Giorgio's heart was always with those on the margins. A mountaineer, student, and man of prayer, he embraced both vibrant friendships and profound spiritual conviction. Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati showed the world that a life of holiness is not one of solemn distance, but of joyful engagement with the world.

His days were a dynamic blend of activity. He was an energetic student studying mineral engineering, a political activist, and a friend who was the life of every party. Yet, this outward energy was fueled by a deep interior life. Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati rarely missed daily Mass and spent long hours in Eucharistic Adoration. For Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, faith was not a compartment of his life; it was the very air he breathed, infusing everything he did with purpose and grace.

Verso l’alto: The Climb “To the Heights”

The mountains were Pier Giorgio’s cathedral. In the demanding challenge of a steep ascent, he found a perfect metaphor for the Christian life. His famous motto, Verso l’alto – "To the heights," encapsulates his entire spirituality. These words, found on the back of a photo taken shortly before his death, capture his constant striving for holiness and excellence in all things.

This climb was not just physical. "Verso l'alto" represented a daily effort to rise above mediocrity, to pursue virtue, and to reach for a deeper union with God. It was a call to elevate his studies, his friendships, his charity, and his prayer. The passion for justice, faith, and joy demonstrated by Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati continues to inspire the spirit of our work.

A Model for Catholic Technology: Why Frassati Inspires Us

At first glance, Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, a saint known for climbing mountains and serving the poor, might seem an unlikely patron for a technology solutions provider. But the example of Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati is precisely the blueprint for our mission.

  • Bridging Faith and the Modern World: Frassati lived fully in his time. He loved sports, theater, and debate. He wasn't afraid of the complexities of modern society; he engaged them, armed with his faith. Similarly, we aim to bridge the timeless mission of the Church with the powerful tools of modern technology, ensuring parishes and dioceses can thrive in the digital age.
  • Excellence in Service: "Verso l’alto" is our standard for service. We are committed to climbing "to the heights" in everything we do, from developing robust network solutions to providing responsive, expert support. We believe serving the Church demands our absolute best.
  • A Service-Oriented Heart: Pier Giorgio secretly dedicated his life to serving Turin's poorest families, often giving away his own bus fare or coat. His charity was practical, direct, and humble. This inspires our business model. We are not just vendors; we are partners in ministry, dedicated to providing solutions that empower parishes and dioceses to better serve their communities.
  • Joy in the Journey: Pier Giorgio was famous for his infectious joy and humor. He reminds us that work done for a higher purpose should be undertaken with optimism and a positive spirit. We strive to build joyful, collaborative relationships with our clients.

The Man of the Beatitudes: A Lasting Legacy

Pier Giorgio contracted polio, likely from the sick whom he served, and died at the young age of 24. It was only at his funeral that his family discovered the true depth of his service, as thousands of the city's poor came to pay their respects to the young man who had been their friend and benefactor.

Pope St. John Paul II, who beatified him in 1990, called him “The Man of the Eight Beatitudes,” a title that speaks to his complete embodiment of the Gospel. Canonized on September 7, 2025, by Pope Leo XIV at St. Peter’s Square in Rome, he is now universally venerated in the Church as “The Man of the Beatitudes”—a reminder that holiness can flourish in ordinary life. The example of Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati challenges us to seek beauty, truth, and service as we climb toward the highest ideals in our own lives and work.
